The Neon Nature Tour is the third concert tour by Marina Diamandis in support of her third studio album, FROOT. The tour began on October 12, 2015 in Houston, United States and concluded on March 20, 2016 in Santiago, Chile.
Background[]
In February 2015, Marina revealed the, then untitled, 'FROOT' tour would begin in autumn.[1]
A month later, in March, Marina revealed to Vice she was thinking of calling her tour the "Neon Nature Tour".[2]
On the 10th, she shared the dates of a "European Tour", which consisted mostly of festivals,[3] replying to a fan on Twitter that her label could not give her the money to support a full European tour.[4] On the 28th, it was announced she could not attend Lollapalooza Brazil, due to a delayed flight,[5] caused by a faulty engine.[6]
Over the spring and summer, Marina performed at many festivals, such as Coachella, SXSW and Governors Ball.
The tour was officially announced on June 23, 2015,[7] along with 'FAQin Hell' (Q&A) hosted on her Tumblr, PLANETFROOT.
The Neon Nature Tour was backed by a live band,[8] which included long time band member Ben Fletcher.
Design[]
Stage[]
FROOT's promotional campaign, Marina made mention of her upcoming, then-unannounced, tour, promising that it "would blend artifice with nature", a theme that would be reflected in the tour's name.[citation needed]
In a 2014 interview with Line of Best Fit, Diamandis revealed her initial ideas for the set design:[9]
❝ I want to create a cyber garden on stage... like an electric orchard with these huge orange trees. I've already got some grapevines that glow. I want the merch stalls to be like a market, so the T-shirts are in little crates, and have fruit punch available... it's a world I can't wait to get into and build. We're even thinking of having life-sized fruits on stage... but like disco ball versions.
So we'd have this massive bunch of cherries but it's a working, turning disco ball. I want it to work anywhere, from somewhere that's five hundred capacity to somewhere that's five thousand . ❞
In a interview with Vice, in March 2015, she reaffirmed these ideas to create a "cyber-garden on stage, something exotic, but electrical."[10] A few months later, in June, when asked by a fan about her inspiration for the tour, she answered:[11]
❝ Taking the natural world and blending it with [the] digital world we live in. The theme is "Futuristic Nature"! ❞
Costumes[]
The outfits for Act 1 and 2, representing The Family Jewels and Electra Heart, were designed by Paula Knoor,[12] and Austin Louis Perry.[13]
A look book, with commentary from the designers of the costumes, was posted to PLANETFROOT and her website.[14]
Look Book[]
Artwork[]
On June 23, 2015, Marina announced she had commissioned a fan, Gabriel Marques, to design the official artwork for the Neon Nature Tour,[15] with the official poster being revealed on PLANETFROOT.[16] Over the years he has posted some outtakes.[17]
Videos[]
Gabriel Marques also designed the transitions between each "act".

In January 2015, during an interview with The Guardian Marina revealed her initial plans for her merch stand:[18]
❝ Well, I plan to go one up from what I’ve done in the past. I really want to do scratch and sniff T-shirts. Maybe those Global Hypercolor ones. I want to put my colour palette onto eye shadows and nail varnish. I also want glow in the dark T-shirts that people can buy and then be part of the show. ❞
On October 15, she tweeted a list of available merch, along with their prices:[19]

Shows[]
Setlist[]
The setlist was split into into three "acts", in an interview with The Bay Bridged, Diamandis explained:[20]
❝ I have three acts in the show. My first act is devoted to my first album, the second is my second album, and the third is FROOT. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. Each era has such a defined look that it didn’t make sense for me to mix them. I quite like theatre, and this is a theatrical show. It felt good to put it into three acts. I don’t think that often happens in alternative shows. ❞
